Hi there,

Have bottled a mangrove jack gold lager 4 days ago. Just opened up a bottle today just to see where the beer was at. Beer has cleared fairly nicely, still a little clowdy (as would be expected for a 4 day old beer). Carbonation is pretty good.

Only thing I noticed was while it produces a decent head it dies instantly and looks more like soda water than beer.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

John.

i dont know maybe the fact that its been in the bottle 4 days.
try leaving it at least 3 weeks and try again

No offence but is this a serious question?

4 days is your answer. Ask again in 2 or 3 weeks if the prolem persists.

Hi Manticle,

Thanks for the help. I have noticed that even at 3 days some of the beers I've brewed in the past have had excellent head retention. I will follow your advice though and leave it for another 3 weeks.

John.

I've had beers carb up in 3 or 4 days too and hold a good head but it's outside the usual parameters. When it doesn't carb in that time it's pretty normal.
