Hey guys need some PET bottles for my batch atm but i cannot find them! my HBS only stocks glass but i dont want to buy a capper this week.. (bills)

i live around boronia area have tried kmart and they only had the caps.. where does everyone get theirs?

Mate a hand capper is only a couple of bucks and a worthy investment, but if you're determined to go PET, just go for a few 3L coke bottles or similar... Just don't leave them in the light.

I've seen the bottles in Coles, Kmart & Big W.
But yeah, coke bottles will do.

Big W is cheapest and most likely to have them in stock here in SE Melb.

Might be worth asking in your local K Mart though - they're reasonably bulky and they don't put all their stock out at once. Good luck.

ALDI regal cola 2L 99 cents. Great for emergency use or for doing your mainstream quaffers. That's all I used in my first year but have now branched out into woosy little 750ml PETs and glass longnecks, but still bottle half of every brew in my goon bottles :D

They have 2 advantages: you can bottle off a whole brew in two cases of six, and they are so cheap you just pour the cola down the sink.

Quick edit: thanks for the rap, Pollux ;)

hey hey

It's seriously worth considering paying your bills and then next week head down to the Brewers Den in Boronia and you should be able to pick up a capper for around $55, then you have a good excuse to buy some beer and save the bottles :icon_cheers: .

The other option is save up old coke bottles and bulk prime or spend $15 on plastic coopers bottles, but in the long run I'd say the capper is cheaper, more effective and once you make the move you wont go back. Hope this helps.

Melbourne central coles had them at $3 a box on Sunday when I was in there. I doubt they are still there though as they only had two boxes.

im slightly afraid of going glass atm because im new to this and i dont want glass grenades in my computer room.. might do the aldi bottles tho it seems like a good idea.. i think..

Coles from tomorrow have P&N pub squash 12 packs for $4 ea. Although the bottles are a little smaller at 300ml I find them great for yeast starters. If you aren't concerned by losing 30ml of space and the clear bottle its hard to beat when you get to drink the soft drink as well.

Good screw top plastic bottles.

Recycling bins ... Bottle brush ... Chlorine.

Fat people's bins are generally brimming with PET bottles.
