So for now if i simply ensure that the mash has a pH of 5.2 I should be right?

Seriously, for now forget you even know what pH is. You'll have enough to worry about for your first few brews. If you pH is wrong it'll just mean your efficiency is not as good as it could be. It won't mean your beer will be crap. There are plenty of excellent brewers who have never known what their pH is.
