Hi,

Just moved to St Kilda and realised I hadn't ordered hops to go with the rest of my ingredients. Now I'm stranded (no car) on my day off with no way to brew this thing.
IS there a list somewhere of all the homebrew stores in Melbourne/Australia? I wonder what's closest to me? I know there's a small one in North Melbourne somewhere...

Cheers

Mate I'm in that neck of the woods and it's slip pickings for brew stores. I was road-tripping around over the last few days to pick up supplies. Yob is right, Brewcraft/Liquorcraft is closest but they're a ripoff for hops ($7 / 25g), but if you're desperate it'll get you out of a pinch. Nothing walkable / short-bicycle from St Kilda AFAIK.

If you see brew'n'grow on google maps, it's closed down. "Home Brew It" has bits and bobs, and they're a bit further East of Brewcraft again (near North Rd / Princess Hwy).

Long-term, Keg King is my best bet for range and price, but I'm Caulfield South so not as close for you as it is for me. Ikea hot dogs on the way home though.

not going to help you right now, but there's plenty of places that will ship if you're not happy with what is available in your local area.

you know, when I started, I asked Dane if the Retailers list would get updated to reflect the current status of Retailers, cant remember if he said he was going to delete the thread (hadnt been updated forever) or he would get to it... either way.. it didnt happen

BTW Carpedaym, it's against forum rules, and rightly so, to self promote your business anywhere but the retail threads that the retailers create.

it keeps the boards clean of needless plugging of every item under the sun... imagine what a mess it would be if that rule wasn't in place.

:beerbang:

Ahh, that makes sense.

I would mention your sites anyway, though, since knowing some online retailers in your hometown is handy for those quick-shipping requirements :)

I dont believe this correct as he asked about stores supplying hops yeah ?
But as you know many things have changed, I may have only read them (rules) last week. .

I dunno Nev, havnt re read them myself yet, but in the spirit of keeping the boards clean is something I agree with personally, hence listing (shudder) brewcraft was his closest option.

This couldn't be classed as off topic as the title does state "List of homebrew shops"

lets get this back on topic peoples.

Courier costs are cheap if from a local supplier or local online supplier and weigh and size is not a big problem.

Wouldn't it make sense that each retailer that is affiliated with the forum be granted there own sub-forum within the retailers forum where they could advertise their respective goods?
This would make it simple for us all to find contact details / websites etc and all new enquiries could be directed to this area.
Maybe if this had associated registration fees we could get rid of the very f&@$ing annoying ads.......
Might be way off track here and apologies if I am.
