Went to a motorcycle rally many years ago and the club had set up a beer tent and were selling raffle tickets with a free beer of your choice with each one.

I often see members on here giving away brewing equipment for “a couple bottles of your finest”.

Way back when I was 18, a local ahh... exotic dancing establishment opened up in my home town (probably by bikies) that me and my buddies would occasionally visit. Same deal, they sold raffle tickets for $3 or $4 or whatever it was and everybody won a can of VB. I'm 99% sure the gubberments liquor laws have since closed that loop hole.

Bartercard is still alive, but it is subject to tax....

Having been to my fair share of " Motorcyle Club" club houses, they would get around the issue by having all the alc in the fridge under each members name ( so it was stored correctly in a cold fridge ) and if you wanted a drink the member would "give" you one of theirs. But you had to pay for the glass to put it in

They also had pretty young ladies that also provided entertainment as well. B)

This week a member in Rockingham wanted to swap the bonnet of his Ford Falcon for four cartons of Corona beer.
No taste in beer or cars.

So what if I had an unwanted gift of a slab of Corona can I swap it for a slab of Monkey Fist?

Not sure who got ripped of there...the guy with the beer or the guy with the bonnet

You dont live in North Queensland do you mate? The currency exchange is not 1 fo1 in the beer economy.

Say I wanted to have a 20sqm driveway laid. I could go through normal channels and pay with this so call money and it will cost me the best part of 5k and take 6 weeks to get done.

Or

I could go to the pub anytime after 11am and yell out "who wants to lay my driveway for 5 cartons of Gold" and I would have a freshly laid driveway by the end of the weekend for under $250 plus a drive to the bottle-o. I would also be obliged to drink half of one of those cartons with him - a small price to pay.

We got **** sorted- you can have your money.
Ah ok that makes more sense now. Ill leave that to the queenslanders though because im not into doing a tax dodge. I pay my fair amount of tax and thats that. Cheers.

Stop moaning.
Open a lemonade stall in your driveway or something and apply for an ABN.
I have an ABN. Alcoholic lemonade market is flat at the moment or I'd take up your excellent suggestion.
On the other hand there's a school bus stop out the front. Hmmmmmm

Curious how the government make all these rules around quashing any extras on the side, but have no problems spending out taxes on holidays, flights, parties etc.
Slimy feckers.

Don't get me started, I'll pass off the soapbox right now. As adversarial as our govt and big business was back in the day, the *******s are even worse now. I don't know if they've evr governed for us, but they are even more against the common citizenry these days. We are simply here to be used, abused, and discarded like common homebrand tissues. With a gaping hole where our arseholes used to be.

I agree totally, we're nothing more than cattle to be milked by the government for the 1%. It doesn't matter that they'll run the country and people into the ground, as long as they get their personal gains today.

Currently have C'Link, thanks to a govt. 'initiative', screwing me down for 5K thanks to a post dated entry to the ATO from a former employer which has apparently caused me to be overpaid. Yet I never got a cent of the supposed payment which has caused the overpayment. If I had Kerry's lawyer this wouldn't even be an issue. Maybe I should have set up an offshore business with massive tax avoidance built in to the system. Onya Mal.

Pollies? They are just like us too. They are us. Why not do a simple transaction once in a while. Without the tedious accounting and paperwork etc. When done by honest working people who pay there taxes anyhow really. That gets spent back into the working wheels anyhow. Its also progress but with draconian laws these little bits of progress to be aliminated? It doesn't make sense. But that's the game. The people also love a hanging of a politician who would get caught out even on the hint of such a thing.
This storm in a tea cup is just the silliness of people to publicise it on social media. Of many other dumbarse characteristics etc. Oops! I don't mean this forum. :D

So do I mate- its those concreters that are doing the dodge. But I guess if you take into account the tax on beer, we're all doing our bit

No one can befoul a site dunny like a Concreter can. It's a sight to behold.
..Quite impressive really, so much destruction in such short time.

........ way back in the dark times in NSW , it was almost mandatory to swap beers for services like getting your shed wired, getting bearings pressed out, driveways, retaining walls, firewood......

...help building BBQ's (as long as shared beers were drunk afterwards), minding the dog, .... (in QLD too).....

Sharing beer in Australia. Should be Iconic! Its that simple.
It is in just about every part of Australia I have been in.

Based on geographical research done solely by myself, country folk will not question the beer offered and the job will be first class as long as the beer is delivered.....especially via a tap on-site
