These days I buy all my hops in 450g lots from craftbrewer, good for bulking out an order of "misc" ;)

Just throw in a kilo of whatever spec grains you feel like, maybe a pound or two of hops and your postage is amortized nicely for your 90g brewing 'misc' ingredient ;)

I found 1KG was just too much, and 100g lots is not worth it

As I implied earlier... I find pilsner/pale malt as a base and misc specialty malts, but lots of good recipes have 500g or so of wheat, so its worth have a half bag of wheat on hand.

My favourite so far is Ross' Nelson Sauvin Summer Ale

Pretty much all +1. Other than a bulk hop buy organised by a very charitable member, I grabbed my last lot from Niko.

It takes a while to get in, but it's worth it.

See when they have a sale (sign up to their email).

I grabbed their willamette, cascade and citra and have been steadily working through these.

Some hops are as little as $10-$15 US per pound and the post was $14 US.

Nice one, will register for the email and start keeping an eye out. Got some of the Citra (100g) for my first batch. So fingers crossed. Thanks heaps, the hard part of this is trying to make sense of all the choice!

Citra is the bomb.

I put 60g dry hopped in my AIPA. Along with other stuff

Another reason for buying bulk - you can be a bit more liberal with its use.

Well, managed to get back to Karratha with all bags in tact. Some were heavier than I thought, but for everyone's benefit the air lines have changed the rule for bagage allowances!

Previously, you were allowed to take a number of bags up to the weight limit, now the reverse is true.....1 bag per person, I had to pay for the 10 gallon pot, $30!! Thought I'd let everyone konw, just in case you have this mad idea of taking 60kg of grain on the plane! They didn't seem to be bothered about the 10kg in the hand lugage, but it did go through the X-ray machine a couple of times...but so did the Mrs' hand bag......what does at say??!! The guy on the machine did ask what I had in it, told him the truth and that was it....happy days :)

So glad to see my daughter could carry 25kg of grain at the tender ago of 4, they build them strong these days

Pot made it through in one piece, so I'm set to crank some good brews........with a bit of luck.

The Haul ended up as:
25kg Joe White Pale Ale
25kg Joe White Pilsner
2kg of Wheat
1Kg of Crystal
1kg of Munich Light

100g Citrus, plus dextrose for my outstanding kits
