Hi,

I am planning do do my first biab in a 44 litre esky (full volume and no sparge) and transferring the wort after mashing into the boil pot.

Can anyone recommend a material to use for a grain bag? Would an old bed sheet work?

I dont biab but from what I have read you should use swiss viole the nylon stuff. I would definitely not use a bed sheet I think you would never get it to drain and would probably tear with the wait of the grain and water.

^This.

Swiss Voile. Is cheap, strong and works. Is in the curtain netting type area of a fabric store. Get yourself a big square for a few dollars and you will be laughing.

Before I added the plumbing to my eski, I held a mesh strainer on the inside of my eski over the feed to the tap. It worked a treat, just make sure you catch the first few pints of mash and toss back into grain bed and you`ll get a few that make it through at first doing it this way.
