Hi,
Finished fermenting a golden ale. The temp in Melbourne tonight is 3 to 6 degrees. Is it worth putting in the shed for the next few days to cold crash?

Can't hurt, but you probably won't get as good an outcome as if you could cold crash in a fridge at say 2 degrees - not only is it colder but you'll be consistently at that temperature for as long as you need. Once it "warms" up tomorrow your beer will also warm up.

None of this will hurt and it'll at least cause some material to drop out, which is better than keeping it at room temperature.

Basically, give it a go.

One good tip for insulating is to pop a cardboard box over the top in the morning (say a "teachest" carton from a storage mob) to give you an air jacket, then remove at night. I've been doing the exact opposite and have maintained a UK Pale Ale at 19 degrees despite dropping to 11 at nights here, so would probably work in reverse.
