Played around a bit last night with my equipment and think Ive got it sussed. Ive increased my sparge dead space to 2 litres and my grain absorption rate to 1.1 in Brew mate and see how this works on my next brew.
Instead of using 12 litres strike water and 15 litres to sparge with can I just split this total and strike with 13.5 litres then sparge with 13.5 litres?
@ Feldon..I think your right with the pump shutting down if it gets to hot. It was at the end of a 100 min mash and I had mashed out at 77C. I switched it off to transfer and because the wort sat in the line it probably got to hot. I think next time I will place a wet cloth from the freezer over it at mash out.
