Going to put down my first brew today just wanted to see if my plan is all good.
Put in fermenter today use a heat mat to maintain temp
After hydrometer reading have settled I expect about a week
Leave another 2 - 3 days in fridge.
Put in kegs

I do have a question about filtering? I have seen the keg to keg filters is this worth doing? Was not planning on it?

Also have a question about hops, my recipe calls for 24g of cascade hops put in dry after you put the can in but before topping up with water. My brew shop suggested not putting it in till two days before I keg it?
As my first brew I like to follow recipe but brew shop are the experts

heres my suggestion.
put it down
leave till you get the same reading 2 days in a row then leave for a week to settle. you can add your hops in this time as well.
3 to 5 days in the fridge after the week to settle will also reduce the amount of sediment and should be pretty clear so you shouldn't need a filter.
then transfer to the keg and carb in the method you chose.

do not take the word of the shops as gospel as some stores only want to sell you what they have on the shelf and also give bad advice like high fermentation temps so you can push out more beer.
have a read on here as well and howtobrew.com, there are many ways to skin a cat and everyone has their own method.

There are plenty of good reads on this forum on the pro's and con's of filtration, but if this is your first brew then I suggest KISS is the rule and then refine from there. Hence I'd just brew it up as per manufacturers instructions with a strong focus on sanitation and temperature control. Once you taste that brew you hopefully will be itching to try again with additional tweaks.

Hope it works out.

The short answer for why the LHBS has made the suggestion to delay adding the hops is to that some of the aroma can be lost if fermentation is still going. Also some hops like Galaxy have a reputation of leaving a grassy character in the beer if dry hopped to long.

Definitely agree with the above comments

Put brew down yesterday , fermenting nicely today, Using heat mat and wrapped in a blanket just holding 20c .
Next job to set up keggerator

Thanks everyone for the advice
