I've just bought a beer filter kit and I'm having problems getting any liquid to the outlet. The filter I'm using is a 1 micron and is the same one KK and GG sell. Using gravity and a 1 metre hose raised up, the hose will fill with water and not flow out. This includes purging of air. To try and troubleshoot this, I took the base of the filter housing and put the filter in. I poured water outside of the filter but inside the housing and after a few minutes I just get a few beads of water forming on the inside of the filter but it doesn't fill up. I just don't think the middle of the filter is filling up with water at all when it's fully assembled.
Is this normal for a filter to hold back water to such extent?
Or am I doing something wrong?
*yes I removed the plastic wrapper from the filter
*no I'd rather not keg to keg
*no I can't use gelatin
