Guys I am in the process of buying all the bits and pieces for a new HERMS rig. One thing I can't get off the shelf is a false bottom that fits neat to the inside diameter of the mash pot. Unless I buy a larger one and cut it down.
Cheeky peak have a very reasonable price one but it is smaller by 130 mm.
Is this something I should even worry about?
Thanks.

Your FB should be 50mm or so in from the edge,(100mm smaller than the pot). It is easier for wort to flow down the walls than through the grain bed, by making the flow path along the wall longer it helps to balance up the flow through the bed.
The appendix at the back of Palmers How to Brew covers it fairly well.

Awesome, thanks for the links I will have a read .
The pot is 480mm, so I might be able to get away with the Cheeky Peak one of 350mm.

Thanks guys, was just about the click the buy button on a 40cm one for my 42cm pot... now got a 30!
11th hour kind of shit right there.

Great stuff I should be sweet with the 40cm Keg king version.
Thanks gents.
