Don't know what the "wise ol'hands" will say about it, but I use termimesh in my small mash tun (20L bucket in bucket job) and have never had any real problems (the one stuck sparge was due I feel to the high wheat content). My big mash tun (55L esky) has a perforated SS sheet false bottom (home made from commercially available sheeting 2mm thick material/2mm dia holes) in it with a termimesh "skirt" around the ends and along the sides to eliminate the otherwise quite large gaps found there.
So personally I don't see any problems so long as you can keep it from collapsing under the weight of the grain bed, but's that's just engineering!
Do you plan to batch or fly sparge? For batching it should be fine, for flying I've read (in howtobrew) that you don't want it right up against the vessel walls, as that encourages channelling down the sides and isn't really a great thing to have when flying.
That is the reason i asked ..
I am sure i read somewhere not to take it to edges...
( After i made it )
Probably leave it and Batch Sparge..Change if necessary..
