Converting a commercial keg to a homebrew keg

I am thinking of removing the spear etc from a keg [ after de-gassing it] I thought I would buy a coupler of e-bay so I could use the keg like I do my cornie kegs & my 23L kegs. My question is what do I use to pick up the beer, will the spear attach to the coupler ? or do I need to purchase something else /

Just buy the correct coupler for the keg and leave the spear where it is.

you can get ball lock posts that attach to a sanke coupler.

But as peas said, you need the right sanke coupler first.
