Hi everyone,

Used my hop sock for the first time recently, and was curious of how people clean them after use.

I rinsed it out, but still had some hop matter left no matter hard I tried. I was thinking of putting it through the washing machine and rinsing the hell out of it afterwards to remove any residual soap. Thoughts?

Is it possible not that important provided it's sanitized?

I soak mine in sodium percarbonate for a day or two then give it another rinse in hot water. If you don't have any pure sodium perc(no rinse sanitiser) you can use unscented nappysan which uses sodium perc as the active ingredient.

It also depends on the material. I use Craftbrewer "grain bags" as a hop sock and after a while, despite using percarbonate, they take on a nice colour as a badge of honour. Doesn't seem to do them any harm.
The newer Craftbrewer bags seem to be nylon as opposed to polyester and they stay whiter.
