That thing is awsome! is it very loud?

Cheers,
Paul

from what i've seen of the other burners on youtube, it's not that bad.

what size is that ? 2 inch ?

can they be controlled very much and how long would it take to boil a 40L keggle

have a look at the welding supplies link in my op, they are easy to control via the tap on the handle, it gets 2.5 degrees a minute when heating strike water in the HLT from ambient temps.

Geez Louise!

Looks like that thing could cut an iron bar in half and then some. Does the bottom of the pot go red or what?! Actually from the shot, looks like it goes...blue!

There are some amazing cookers out there.

Hopper.

just a good photo, it's not nearly as angry as it looks :D

cheers

Mine gets very angry. The outside of the keggle glows red hot.

If you want to boil 180lt, this is the way to go. I think I payed about $60.00 from my local fishermans co-op. No regulator used, straight suction from the 9kg bottle. Don't fire this thing up at night full bore, you'll probably get arrested.

gday crust, hows Yamba ?

mate you really should get a flashback arrestor at least, i work with this gear all the time and would hate to see you go bang, B.O.C can fix you up with a reg and arrestor.

cheers

Dave

btw, they're a great burner aren't they, suprised more brewers aren't using them for what they're really intended :icon_cheers:

Hey Dave,
A flashback arrestor & reg would definately be a better option. I dont use it anymore & I use the Mongolian 32 jet burner. They are a fantastic burner & boy can they get to a boil pretty quick. I filled my prawn cooker up with about 60 litres of salt water & it got to the boil fairly quickly. Mine is a bit too noisy wide open throttle & I guess installing the proper safety gear on the burner would tame it down somewhat in relation to noise.
Yamba is still as nice as ever. How's everything at your neck of the woods?

I have changed my mind and think i will be going all electric. That way i can brew in my garage without having to worry about gas fumes and leaks, and will also make semi automation a bit easier. What size elements will i need for a 180L boil and 200L HLT. What size element would be best for a HERMS for this rig aswell?

Ive got electricians coming next week to give me a quote and it would be good if i can give them an idea of estimated wattage.

Cheers,
Paul

id say youd want atleast a 30amp circuit so you can run dual 240v 3600w elements wired in parrallel in your kettle, tho youd need some sort of control aswell to enable you to turn them down once boiling,(not sure how long thisd take to achieve).Without getting the books out id say 4mm2 cable would be adequate but youll need to run all this by your licenced electrician obviously .. p.s

So 2 x 3600W elements in the kettle, a 3600W in the HLT and a 2400 or 3600 in the HERMS. Does that sound about right? im not too worries how long it will take to get to a boil, as long as it gets there.
