G'day people, I have a coopers draught + be2 tea hopped in the fermenter for 8 days now.
Went for a look/smell a n&d as I got in close for a whiff I had to pull away quick.
Not off smell just burn ya nostrils !!!
Anyone experience a similar thing.
Been brewing for years tins & BIAB & never come across this.
There is not visible infection, just like sniffing odourless pure alcohol.
Cheers

It's carbon dioxide produced from fermentation. Sniff enough of it and you'll die. But nothing to worry about.

haha done this a few times my self, opened up the chest freezer and nearly passed out as I had two fermenters in their going nuts! Carbon dioxide slap to the face!!

Ah used tae get that whin ah slugged ma tin o Irn Bru and belched up the back o ma feckin nose.

Yep, I've copped that too. I usually can't help but take a big whiff when I take the glad wrap off the fermentor before racking to keg. Always get the burn and never learn my lesson.

Everyone remembers their first whiff... For me it's Cooper's IPA (first beer) kit + whatever I added. A great learning experience though, never done it again!
