Hey guys,

I'm culturing up the yeasties from some Bridge Road Pale Ale and have a batch of wort almost ready for pitching - just for my curiosity does anyone know what strain they use?

Have emailed them but figured I'd put the question out on here as someone else on here has probably brewed with it before and knows how it likes to work...

I really enjoy this beer. I couldn't tell you for sure but I wouldn't be surprised if it was something clean and American.
What recipe did you use?

I just made a bitsa beer - crushed some marris otter and used a bit of munich and crystal malts that I had lying around and used up some riwaka flowers before they become useless. I figured it'd be a bit malty so I gave it a protein rest, threw in some gypsum and added 20g of saaz that were also left overs as first wort hops.

Spent some cash last Dec with my tax refund being what it was - so today was all about using stuff up and getting used to the new Monster Mill, my refractometer and Ph meter and testing the new manifold in the MLT... worked a treat.

If the yeast works out well I have a house APA that I'll be using it on that uses a lot of Amarillo - I used to use Wyeast 1272 in it.

I was talking to Ben the other week (owner and head brewer) and if I recall correctly, he said he adds very little hops before 10 mins to go.

Most of it he puts in the mashtun and uses it as a hopback during whirlpool.

Dunno if that helps at all.

Ben is very active on Twitter. Jump on twitter and ask him, I'm sure he will reply.

Straight form the horse's mouth...

"The yeast is from Wyeast 1056 american ale. A great almost industrial like strain that ferments well all the time every time, perfect for APAs"

Too late, but was also going to say that 1056 was used, and to also just ask ben on twitter. He is one of the friendliest guys around when it comes to brewing.

Beat the horse until it tells us the hops in this great beer!

Drinking one of these right now - really enjoy this beer… I'm wondering what hops are used?

The bottle says it is a "new world pale ale, brimming with hop aroma and flavour, this beer is 'dry hopped' with at least 4 aromatic hop varieties from three continents. The recipe is tweaked from season to season…"

Amarillo, Galaxy, Cascade (maybe) - not sure what the third continent is… Kiwi?

Bought another 6'er of these on the weekend… so good…

Anyone want to have a stab at a recipe? In particular, the hops?

It's a ripper of a beer and fresh stocks of it as well. Keen for a recipe also

Agreed, I forgot how good it was. Been drinking my own beer since before Xmas and a mate brought a few round the other day, delicious! Have to be my favourite commercial pale ale for sure. Love to attempt a clone.

With the current batch only about a month old, I reckon its the best domestic pale ale at the moment and my go to if I'm buying beers.
