Pub trains successor for famous beer-swigging pig

A pub in Tasmania known for its beer-drinking pig has begun train a successor.

With Priscilla, who can knock back a beer in seven seconds, growing old Priscilla Babe stands ready to take her place at the Pub in the Paddock in Pyengana.



Free says training a pig to drink beer is not easy.

"Most pigs will drink beer, but you do have to train them to drink out of a bottle," she said. "It did take her a while to get the taste, she sort of played with the bottle and still does play with the bottle, she's not the expert [that] Priscilla is."

Hi Doc,

Yep, the pig lives at the Pub in the Paddock, located up near St Helens on the North East coast. Apparently the beer is specially made for the pig, stubbies of which can be bought over the bar and you then go and give her a drink! Unfortunately no pics, but if I'm passing that way I'll make sure I take a couple!

I had a beer at that pub. Apparently they feed the pig a beer a day. Unfortunately we had to press on before the stubby came out.

Pyengana cheese factory is just down the road. Well worth the tour.

Been there, couldn't coax Priscill out but Priscilla Babe was a bit more interested. Don't remember there being a special beer for the pig, just the usual stubbies. VB would be fitting.

Pricilla is not the only pig that i've seen that drinks beer,

Over here we call her "bush pig" :lol: :lol: :chug:
