I am suprised how much my hop bill has increased since I sarted brewing 100 grams a breis nothing these days what do you use ???

when I first started brewing I thought 12g of cluster in a (kit) brew was overpowering.

I've since done many an AG brew with a minimum of 100g of high alpha yank hops and even a couple with 200g.

I'm using more hops but I am getting picky, 200g of sheisze quality hops in a 23l brew can really bring you unstuck.

I even confess to making a cup of hop tea with a particular hop with half a teaspoon of raw sugar to work out how to use it. It's probably the best way IMO to learn the particular characteristics of different hops.

Has anyone actually tried to smoke hops? Someone mentioned something about it before, and as far as I recall, hops are in the same family as dope, lol.

Can't wait to use my first actual hops in a few weeks! Woohoo! Gonna try about 100g total or so of Saaz and Cascade, so shouldnt be too overpowering.

The Brewing Network had listeners do this on their Lunch Meet show a few eps after they started the show. Success seems to be variety dependant, and on your prior experience

Hops dont contain THC (tetra hydra carbinol or something) so you wouldnt get stoned, Probably cough your guts up id imagine, it would be pretty harsh on the throat.

Some people use hop pillows to help them sleep though.

Timmy does your hop tea to tend to make you drowsy at all? How much do you use in a cup?

I really only have a couple of sips and it's only just enough to get the basic flavour out, maybe 1/2 to 1 g in a big mug.

I tried a big strong cup once and i did sleep well come to think of it but i'll blame that on being genuinely tired. I was doing a comparo on fuggles vs cascade and wondered if i could handle the english dirt hops in the same sort of concentration.

I think i fell asleep before i decided...................

197grams is around about the most ive used but easily would average upwards to 100grams.
A certain h34r: member has from memory smoked some hops to try it out.I wont out him.He lives in crowland.

I tend to feel a bit "spun out" after drinking my hop debris-laden hydrometer readings.

but this site says:

a more interesting question is what about a beer with marijuana as a replacement for the hops? what sort of flavour would it have? just to keep this legal, let's say we are using marijuana with no THC content.
