Lismore is only about 35mins down the road - go via Bangalow. Some towns don't have liquor at Aldi, for example Taree or Casino, due to locals, publicans, Colesworth etc who have the local council and the Licensing Commission in their pockets and put up petitions about the current levels of alcohol abuse and drunkenness in their towns. Not that BWS or LL are ever refused a licence.

Next week, the 3L Karmeliter mini kegs are on sale.
actually dans got rejected in taree.

Taree sucks for beer availability and pricing. Every time we go to visit in-laws (or they come to Sydney), beer transportation is involved.

On sale in Aldi Lithgow now. Have one in my fridge.

Dan's got rejected because the site (next to Sailo's Club) is right on the riverfront beautification project precinct (i.e. where da bros and da sisses congregate with their spiritual guru "Pastor Cask-bro") . Dan's were going to build a massive horrible blank box just about on the river with the street frontage taken up by parking. They were supposed to reapply with a revised layout but apparently lost interest in the site and haven't been back.

I found Taree to be not too bad for beer, actually - the BWS at the "Abbey" and the Liquorstax at Old Bar usually had a good range, better than most regional centres.

you obviously haven't spent time in taree.
i grew up there and its only gotten rougher since then.
i grew up with being verbally abused as white c%$$ in high school almost every day by the so called aboriginals, who want equality but still keep all their special benefits.
i went back earlier this year and was in the play ground on the water front with my 3 yr old daughter only to hear from a kid that i could pick as one of the local aboriginals, only by the nose mind you as he was whiter than me and had red hair, "oi c@$% get off my fucken swing". this boy was about 5ish.
this is a generalisation there are good ones there but the majority is like this.

For those who have met my partner she's an elder of the Lama Lama people of Cape York (Princess Charlotte Bay, near Noel Pearson's mob) and her daughter does voluntary work at the medical centre at Purfleet (often a losing battle) - the Aboriginal community to the South of Taree.
They both share my opinion of the bro's and sisses of the river bank.

Anyway getting waaay off topic for Aldi specials :p

Lived in old bar for 6 months and worked in Taree. I spent my entire youth in Dubbo, with an equivalent aboriginal population.

This is the same old **** argument of I can't be racist because...

Barl's - if the person giving you **** was Caucasian you wouldn't mention their race.

Bribie - there has been no shortage of casual racist comments in your posts from over the years.

This stuff just ******* frustrates me I guess. As I outlined in my previous post, would have been easy for Bribie to leave the racist rubbish out of his post.

Apologies for the well off topic.

Karmeliters back. I ended up getting 3 kegs last time. I had the last one 2 weeks ago which was the best one. It was in the fridge for a few weeks. Doesnt seem to be alot of good beer lover's in my area

Ballina is closer, we have the good stuff.

I've lived in Taree and Old Bar. Had some good experiences ... and some bad.

Not that we have Aldi liquor in SA anyway but I am curious...

What is Karmeliter? Is it an Aldi-only thing? Is it related to Tripel Karmeliet? I can't find much about it on Google, apart from the fact that it is a Weissbeir and seems to only be available at Aldi.

Karmeliter Weissbier a German Hefeweizen beer by Karmeliter Bräu, a brewery in Bad Neustadt-Salz, Bavaria. I've never seen it anywhere else in Australia, it's a very tasty quite mild Weissbier.

For the brew food enthusiasts, there's a big range of BBQ equipment on Saturday. No smoker unfortunately but pizza ovens, gas gear etc.

For those who have had both, which out of the Kameliter or Paulaner weissbiers is better? I understand that personal taste plays in to it, but would like to hear from those who have tried both of them

Suggested special buy .
Captain Kirk, Fonzie and two legendary athletes walk into a Japanese restaurant and end up eating shredded and skewered bits of pig vagina.
There is no punchline to this joke, it actually happened. And the reaction from the stars of NBC’s new travel-reality show “Better Late Than Never”

Just cracked a HB hefe. Pretty ordinary. Only put them in the fridge last night or maybe im just paranoid about green bottles.

And still they keep them coming:

From Wednesday, six packs assorted of BergBrau assorted for $15.

Bavarian, in 330ml swingtops. Not online yet, hard to make out the photos, maybe a helles, marzen and weizen?

I got the last six of Flensberger from Grafton on the way through on Saturday. :)

Flensburger Weizen - Best before 8.7.17.

Smells OK, but weak banana flavour to balance the phenols, and a bit flat. Would be disappointed if I brewed one like this.

I should have bought the Pils. I have not seen the Flensburger Gold, but I hear it's one of the BJCP classic examples of a Dortmunder. Would love to try it.

Forgetting the beer (although it's not completely forgettable), how good are the 330ml swingtop bottles at the price?
