They will somewhat taste like Grange as far as the fruit grow, no Peter Gago isnt turning his grapes into wine, yes the 'terroir' will be different, but he has technically cloned a wine grape.
I can kind of agree with the bolded part if you mean that if it's a shiraz vine the wine would taste like shiraz. But that's the extent of the likeness (ignoring the fact that most Grange vintages aren't 100 % shiraz but are blended).

It's kind of like saying any beer I make with Maris Otter is a Wells Bombardier clone because I use malt made from the same cultivar.

All he has is some vines. Just like with making beer, every little thing changes the final product. Among terroir and other things, the age of the vines plays a big role. So unless he planted his cuttings like 100 years ago, in the right region, on the side of a good hill facing the right direction, with the right soil, and the growing conditions for this vintage were just right, he won't have anything like Grange. And on top of all that there's the actual wine making to contend with.

Besides, a grape variety is a grape variety. The difference comes from the terroir and growing conditions. He may as well have bought some cheep cuttings from Bunnings.

Cool story, bro. But Grange isn't always single vinyard. Certain vintages may be single vinyard, but each vintage may come from a different vinyard. So which vinyard did you "obtain" them from?

Then there's the fact that the vines Grange comes from are very old, some over 100 years, and the particular climate where it is grown. Six cuttings in your backyard won't taste much like grange, but it's still worth doing so long as you learn about diseases and which sprays to use.

Its just Shiraz cuttings from a Grange block guys. Terroir, viticulture and the winemaker make it Grange.

Good vigorous, hardy vine though.

Back on topic, so if he had of just declared it, would it be ok?

Oh.....the irony of the Liberal party starting an investigation that ultimatly leads to.....well....

Haha. I've been waiting for a lib supporter to pipe up with something negative against labor.

There was nothing honorable about it. How the **** Abbott managed to spin this this into how much of an integrity move it was to resign and have lib supporters eat it up is beyond me.

Hey, isnt Rabbit involved somehow?

All this ruckus over a 3000 dollar bottle of wine? Yet a QLD premier gets in slashes jobs and spending then gives politicians a 57 000 dollars p/a pay rise. I know there is a lot more to it but it's all a bit ridiculous. Both the liberals and labour are making Palmer look like the better option.
