Yep, Horizon is a good clean bittering hop, very low co-humulone levels for the alpha. Hopunion reccomend it as a substitute for Magnum, so you can't go wrong really.

Cheers

I agree with Sam. Should be fine. Not so sure about the JW Light Munich for Wey Munich though. :p

German Mai bok with Horizon? Not if you are making a beer to style, if not I say go for what you want.Could turn out to be a stunner.Mai bok is not a hop driven beast any way, I would look more at your malt profile.

Thanks Stu ,Sam & GB

I have all Weyermans Malt Stu

just going through a Lager and Pilsner phase in my brewing

I made a Dortmunder recently and one of the best beers I ever made, gone off the Pommy stuff its Pilsners and APAs for me until I get sick of them :)

The Horizon I used in an APA and gee it was a clean tasting beer

Pumpy :)

Whoops it should have finished at 1.020 but it has gone down to 1.016 damn dont you hate 7.6% Maibocks

Oh well better lager the damn thing another six weeks <_<

If I can wait that long

Pumpy :)

The Maibock is absolutely fantastic if you ever get the chance brew this one Wow it atenuated a little more than I expected so it must be about 7.6 % .

no need to lager ha Ha

God i feel good

Pumpy :)

The fact it's not a hop-driven beer would make the hop variety matter less, I'd think. Ultimately it sounds like Horizon was a decent sub in pumpyland.

Its Great Kai I was highly inspired by my last Maibock but this is a beer that should be brewed by everyone

Good to know, Pumpy. I've got a stack of Munich to use up and some Horizon hops in the freezer. Looks like I'll be making a Maibock sometime soon. :beerbang:

Stu I have found Light Munich is essential part, in a number of beers, I will always keep a bag in stock ,and unlike them pommy special malts it dont seem full of bugs that eat a percentage of it .

Pumpy :)

I'm gonna give it a go this weekend Pumpy, you've talked me into it! (Although I'll be using Northdown for bittering).

I've got a bock going at the moment, I think I'll wash some of the yeast from that when it's done and use that. I'm loving the lagers too atm. I'm planning an Octoberfest after this one and I also wanna do a Vienna lager before the temps get too high. I need more kegs!
