When i first started brewing i used to use a glad wrap lid and throw in a hydrometer. I was so paranoid about infection that i didn't want to open the fermenter at all.

With ag i don't use one, just give it a week and then a day or two at 20, then drop to 0C

I've decided on a refractometer, however, I still need a way to take a sample (allbeit tiny) from my glass carboy after secondary fermentation. It has no tap.

Should I just siphon a small amount into a container? Or should I just get a turkey baster?

Speaking of turkey basters, where the hell are they sold in Aus? Seems to be a Yankee thing...
