Well if you are going to roam the forums like you have for the last week or two like a yapping little terrior, looking for a bite, eventually someone is going to smack you on the nose with a rolled up newspaper.

Are you a dominate man by nature, schooey? An attempt at intimidation, however jokingly you may like it to be, isn't really productive. It's clear that you have an opinion, and moreso you are able to articulate it with words. So why not 'speak' more about the subject at hand, instead of puffing out your chest.....

Ok, it was about the formation of Australia, and the steady infux of people from all parts of the world. It wasn't OK that England dumped people here, both rich & poor, but that's history. We opened our doors to Europe, then later SE Asia, and mroe recently the Middle East. We as a nation are helping people by having that door open - and if for nothing else it stimulates the economy. If we accept & move on from the genocide that created this modern culture, then we should also move on from the inherent racism that drives the aussie mentality. We are all vistors & we are all transient.

Yap Yap Yap.

hahhahahahha... yeah nice two bob analysis, but you decipher what you like from the words on a screen. I could chuck back your antagonistic nature blah blah balh, but this is the internet dude, who really thinks they can change the world by arguing a point with someone who will never change their mindset anyway?

If you want to be serious, I think you are too quick to bundle the majority of Australians as racist yobbo cretins that have an inherent condition. In my corner of the world, that's not the case at all, the majority of the people I work with, socialise with and interact with have an open mind and disposition

Australia day is a day to reflect on the opportunities we have in this great land, we also have rights that not a lot of other countries have, eg the right to vote

Or rather the legal obligation to vote, something that I have trouble with.

While I think everyone should vote, I think everyone should have the right not to, if they choose. Making them go to the polling station to spoil their paper strikes me as odd.

Is it ignorant of me to say I had a GREAT day with my finance and friends having a bbq and drinking beer! Im happy with that!

Do you mean "fiance" or was it a good day costwise?

stagga.

<snip> To me, that is beyond the Aryan Master-Race concept that Hitler was dictating. </snip>
I call Godwin's Law on that one.

And now; the lighter side of Godwin's Law...

So Jase,

You dislike Christmas, people who have children and Australia Day celebrations?? How do you feel about Easter?

Really, I was going to stay out of this but for some reason I can't help but wonder, how sad and lonely is your existance that in order to make yourself feel better you must apparently everything that other people manage to draw ANY form of pleasure from??

Australia day is all about arguing about Australia day
... or having the right to do so.

For me Australia Day meant going to work for double time and a half. Having my mates at work apologise for "Invasion Day", then calling off plans for Bondi in the afternoon cos it was raining. Heading to the tab instead and picking a few winners. Then going home and having a few beers while watching the tennis.

I feel that if it wasn't the English, someone else would have arrived and done similar stuff. But it was the English who arrived and gave birth to the nation as we know it now. I have no problem with all of this. Had any one thing in history not occurred, I probably wouldn't be sitting on my couch typing this rubbish right now. So this beats the alternative for mine. I don't think we should dwell on past attrocities. Sure recognise that they happened, apologise, compensate if necessary and move on. Just be sure to not make the same mistakes again.

Back on Australia Day, I don't mind all the back slapping that goes on. I actually don't mind the cape wearing either. It's just young Aussies declaring their love for the country they live in. I'm proud to be an Australian. By just about any measure Australia is a top place to be from. If all that makes me just another beer drinking, sport loving, yobbo, then so be it.

I love this clip. I've been looking for a reason to share it. This will do. Relevant bit is the second-half (from 1:30 for the lazy ones), and insincere apologies to buttersd70 for the punchline

P.S. gonna go see Adam at the Fringe! Another clip, still relevant, for those who love a good singalong.

cheers... I wish AHB had spell check!

Katie - use Firefox with an Australian dictionary/spell check addon ,which does spell checking in any forum or form you fill out.... just like word spell check... stops silly spulling mistakes :)

I have posted this link before for those having trouble comprehending dribble/uneducated/egotistical posts. If you missed it last time:

Go back to soddery, poo-hole

Firstly, do my previous posts draw open discussion in the community ? I think they do. Surely you cannot begrudge personal opinions that may be outside the 'norm' that most people subscribe to ? FFS I am not declaring death sentences to christians. But neither will I supress my opinions for the sake of following the party-faithful.

As for being 'sad & lonely'..... well, despite your homespun psychological analysis it's this forum that keeps me company when the missus is at work. When she's at home I'm never online, preferring to enjoy our life in a non-digital realm. Can you say the same ?

Quite frankly, the statement is a bit rich coming from you, being someone who deals in human misery as a career......

By the way, I had a GREAT Australia day.

Deals in human misery? Ha...

Suckers want to give me their money when logic says they have f-all chance of winning long term, that's their issue...

If no-one traded in heroin, there would be no junkies.........

You know this is all just discussion, right, and not a personal attack ?

Yes there would be, they'd just be hooked on something else....

Anyways, my casino is currently in the headlines again, apparently a high roller cashed a cheque for 11.5M, cleared his account with us and left the country, then the cheque bounced....

Tabcorp wrote it off as a "bad debt"...........

I think I may well have dealt to said individual on a few occasions.
