tweak my favourites into perfection(imo).

attack the science of brewing.

build a bar.

go keg.

go AG.

2006 is the year of the pilsner for me. Going to try and nail the perfect pilsner ( for my own taste).

Also i have to get some decent taps for the keg setup and retire the old pluto gun. Maybe some of those ventmatics i'm hoping.

Also keeping beer on tap at all times is my other goal. Brewing lagers takes up my fermenting fridge for so long, so that might mean another fridge is in the pipeline, probably followed by a divorce. :D

cheers guys

vlbaby.

Move into my new house
Aquire a chest freezer capable of holding 6 kegs
Commission the third tap
Get 40L batches going for lager brews.

Hopefully regain some time in the day as the bub grows :D

Lets see,

Got a keg set up
Got a fully stocked bar
Got a still... i mean natural oil extractor
Started AG
Im 18 and healthy

Keep up the good work this year i think!!!!!

seriously, get a mill and keep spending obscene amounts on this obsession we all seem to have.

Scotty

have 4 kegs + 8 on the way all will need filling
so

a few good stouts

some wheats

hell who knows at this point so many recipes floating around these forums i wanna try (so thanks to all who post)
grape season approaching plan on crushing

200kgs of shiraz
hopefully a late picked chenin(volume unknown as i get to pick these for free after picking machines have been through)
about 100kgs muscat

also have an essential oil extractor always on the go.

:chug:

Get a grain mill happening and then buy grains in bulk.

Then the following styles in order of preference:
1. Belgian wit
2. Bohemian pilsener
3. Brown porter
4. American ale

My plan is to brew as much as I can during the cooler months so i don't have the same problem as this Xmas. I nearly ran out of Beer!!!!!!!!

Cheers

OK, I'll start it. Finish in the following phrase:

'2006, the year of':

- Belgians
- Nailing a great Pilsner
- Improving my chilling process
- Entering more comps

So what is it?

'2006, the year of...'

Bump.

So how did you all go? For me:

- Belgians: I've got a great golden strong on tap at present (9.5%), a dubbel CC'ing but still have a ways to go.
- Still working on my Pilsner.
- Solved my chilling process. GO the no chill :beerbang:
- More comps. Need to start bottling a couple of each batch instead of drinking it all :chug:

Cheers.

Great call Duff :)

get a cf chiller, a mill and a thermostat for the brew fridge.
and make more weird fruit beers
perfect the lemongrass lager this winter (if i don't get the thermostat)

Well, I'm using an immersion chiller and it works well.
Gave the weird fruit beers a miss in 2006
Still haven't gotten around to the Lemongrass lager, although I do have a Kiwi Mongrel boiling now. Was tempted to add lemongrass.
Just about to hook up the Mashmaster fridge controller after buying a Jaycar kit (before the store burned down) but CBF putting it together.

I did good this year. In order of achievement....

- Did first partial mash
- Started first lager fermentation in fridge
- Did first cold conditioning in fridge
- Started yeast farming
- Got equipment and went AG (yay for no-chill!)
- Did first APA that was any good
- Used first liquid yeast (now have about 8 strains farmed)
- Sat in on awards judging
- Won an award in two comps
- Got infected wort for the first time (!)
- Discovered the joys of finding new favourite styles

This year I've...
* Broken my AG cherry
* Entered my first comp
* Bought (but not quite up and running) a keg system
* Studied BJCP
* Met some great brewers who I can sponge info off left right and centre (and I get to sponge some great beers too).

Because of all this, many thanks to everyone at AHB.

Cheers guys.
Thommo.

Get my new mill and use it.
Fine-tune my brewday so all runs smoothly and to plan (at least some of the time).
Brew to style (leaving brewing without styles to 2007).
Enter a competition to see what I can improve.
Avoid all those bugs that are trying to get my precious.
Enjoy the fruits of my labours. :chug:

Hope you all enjoy brewing in 2006 as much as I have in 2005.

Used the mill fully, especially for ISB brewdays.
Brewday runs pretty smoothly now, at least at my house.
Some brewing to and some brewing without styles.
Entered some comps, and even got to judge in one.
Some bugs managed to find me and my wort.
Enjoyed as much as possible. :chug:

Hope you all enjoy brewing in 2007 as much as I have in 2006. :super:

Keeping beer up to my 10 taps is the first priority...
Paying my electricity bill...
Building a cold room
Modify my grain mill & start using it.
Switching to glass fermenters
Brewing at least 1 new style a month...

++++

Beer tour of Europe...

Cheers Ross

Hey Ross, did you ever get around to switching to glass fermenters or did you run out of time?

Taps never ran dry, but claim bloody close at times B)
Bills paid..
Have a cold room on loan - New one is on order & will be built early next year.
Didn't modify the Marga, bought a 3 roller S/S Crankenstein
Never did switch to glass, I still get too nervous around it (butter fingers), but justed bought a plastic conical.
Brewing 8 to 10 brews a month & experimenting all the time, so guess I achieved this one as well.
Beer tour of Europe was thwarted by CraftBrewer kicking off, hopefull will achieve this next year while hunting down new items to stock B) .

Cheers Ross

Re-make my Duvel clone and not drink most of it so quick.
Make more Belgian styles and not change the recipe like warrenlw63 :D I said THAT'S me when I read that :) :p I do change and not make the same style twice.

Make more Belgians , Looks like the 2007 wish list. :)

stop making stuf for everyone else and finish my mash rig.

Brew a roggenbier

Develop a signature lager for my keg that is both flavourful but easy to drink.

use more SAAZ in my next pils

get a first place in the ANAWBS.

And last but not least............

not have the lowest scoring beer at the aus National comp ;)

MAsh rig complete and operational (sounds like a death star doesn't it)

Roggenbier got a 2nd at state comp but AABC didnt recognise it........

Still working on a signature beer........ there are to many beer styles to try, god damn them

I put so much saaz in my pils that i stuffed it. It was way out of balance.

didnt get to enter the ANAWBS due to moving house and town

And my beer that qualified for the AABC (as above) never got a show

All in all not to bad.

Is someone going to start a 2007 one ?

cheers
