I don't see why my brewing should all be done within a Imperial system,
Maybe its the drunk Andy speaking, but im thinking of starting a metric system brewery.
Like, instead of 375ml bottles, why not 500ml?
Instead of long necks why not 1L bottles?

And why not go with 5 packs? 10 packs? a slab could be a 30 pack.

6 packs... Pfftt, who only has 6 beers at once?

Thoughts?

My thoughts is that ... yes ... its drunk Andy speaking. ;)

I do have a collection of 500ml Schwelmer bottles and 473ml Grolsch bottles - I don't think either of those relate to an imperial system.
When I pack my HB beer it's usually in terms of 14 long necks in a milk crate rather than 6 or 24 packs - again not imperial, more milkcratical.

I'll have a pint if you are buying and a Firkin to take home :D

anyone else confused?

'I never have 6 beers at once - especially seeing as there's only 5 in my metric pack'

;)

and 100 minute boils with hop additions only in 10 minute increments..........

Goodbye yardglass...

hello metre glass!

haha! You'll all see!! Ill revolutionize the world with my metric system! :p

Don't take this serious. Its a tongue in check idea.

Australia's a bit of a hold out, originally our beers came in 26 oz bottles and 13 oz bottles for some reason, and by good luck they were almost exactly 750ml and 375ml so that's how it's stayed, except for the recent trend of greedy breweries to downsize with the likes of Tooheys and Hahn in the clear bottles, etc.
Aussie breweries could easily retool to 500ml and one litre, remember those few years when CUB tallies were 800ml.

Thanks BribieG

Plus if you did a 20L batch, that makes 40 500ml bottles, or 20 1L bottles.
Nice round numbers.

btw pcmfisher.
Time isn't really in metric either, so you arn't really getting it.

Kevo, i mean people have more then 6 at once anyway haha.
6 x 375ml = 2250ml
5 x 500ml = 2500ml
Thats an extra 250ml worth. Pretty close.

Only problem i see with it is the packaging. 5 doesn't really fit well into many carry friendly designs.

Just a play on words, Acasta. It amused (and continues to amuse) me no end.

I'm not sure why some of us think that 750ml and 375ml are less metric than 1L and 500ml.

Thanks BribieG

Right lads, bigger problem here; we need metric time. 14 and a half of our current ridiculous minutes will make an hour and there is now 100 hours in the day. In NSW, it is now currently approaching half past 55 o'clock!

Dont forget to line up all your pencils and wash your hands an even number of times before you leave the house today!

Read Bum's link. Problem was solved years ago mate.

lol jester, im just thinking outside the box mate. How do you think things get invented? If everyone is so against my idea, why are they using kg of ingredients? Liters of water?
Plus, i don't leave the house because the aliens are still after me.

I often do 20L batches and fill 10, 2L bottles and drink from a 333ml glass.

I is metic as, bro.
