i have been buying full batch grain bills from CB and splitting them in two, CB do the splits and vac'ing
using the 19L pot and voile etc
no chilling in 10L bunning water "cubes" (might be 11.5 L in the cube?)
aiming for higher FG boils and ad back a bit of water in the fermenter
fermenting them in 15L cubes in my temp-fridge
getting about two cartons out of each brew (roughly) :beerbang:
experimenting with dry hopping diff amounts in each 1/2 etc
making pretty good beer !!!

now buying bulk grain....

you will never look at kits of goo the same

I have the 10L ones from bunnings that were on sale that i use to cold condition in my normal fridge, sitting at about 5 celcius. I might start getting CB to splt my orders too!

i better clarify, if the full 23L grain bill is say 4kg, i buy 5kg and split the 5kg into two brews
adjust the spec grain / hops to match the slightly larger brew, this increases that FG on boil for the dilution in fermentor
giving you that bit extra beery goodness

if you buy the 5kg the base malts drop $1 per kg @ CB so you get the last kg free (sort of) = free beer ?

but i am pretty inexperienced so i have NFI really... but making beer i like and thats the important bit !!

The recipe i have asks for 4.5kg of Pilsner so i bought 5kg too, i like the Craftbrewer 5kg deal though.
