Spoke with the mannager at SuperGas on Bellchanbers Rd Elizabeth last night who mentioned to me that they are buying 100 or so 6kg bottles to set up a Swap & Go for home brewers with a $30 change over. he said that there has been far too many requests to ignore it. :beerbang:

To help convince them I reckon everyone in Adelaide should send them their interest.

Fair dinkum....get behind this one.

That does not sound like a good deal to me. The std. deal in Newcastle at the moment is a 9kg refill for $19 and as low as $12.95.

if thats for CO2 then its not bad at all.
did he mention bottle rental contracts or anything?
could be the incentive for this bottler to become a kegger.

No rentals, the whole concept is the same as the barbie gas bottles for Swap and Go. No contracts, no nothing. Swap and funnily enough, go

Great idea cos those @#$%^& at BOC wont sell the bottles.

That would be enough to get me to put away my Tap-A-Draft and get into kegging proper.

Wonder if it's coming to Melbourne?

Just rang their (Supagas) depot in Somerton re; enquiry. Somebody is supposed to be ringing me back. Here's to hoping. Just got my Air Liquide renewal notice. Up from $30 to $130 for 2008. <_<

How does the whole bottled CO2 thing work? Does that get you rental of a bottle for a year and x amount of refills, or just rental? How much are refills?

Welcome to the rest of Australia's prices.

What was the deal with Vic getting really cheap rental? I got my second renewal and spat the dummy. Returned the bottle and bought a Mykegonlegs dealio. It'll pay for itself plus 40% come next renewal (EDIT: I mean when the next AL renewal would have come).

Any extra $100  thats bloody ridiculous! The Supagas sounds good. How much is the first bottle to buy?
Cheers

We got it cheaper because we used to get the older steel D-size cylinders (cumbersome heavy sh*ts). Air Liquide claims it was only intended to be available until the stock of these cylinders was exhausted which is apparently the case now.

Just got a call back from Supagas. They don't do the same offer in Vic.

Their rates are $10 per month rental and $35 per 10kg cylinder refill. The pay by the month offer sounds like a good thing. Most importantly they deliver the cylinder to your doorstep.

Think I might run with this one. :icon_cheers:

How many KG are D-size cylinders (the cumbersome heavy sh*ts) as they were a bit more than $35 to swap at the home brew shops?

I'm due (to get rid of that thing) in Feb

I had a steel cumbersome heavy **** 9Kg bottle from AL and it was well over $100 per year.
btw, $10 per month is not much of a saving. Does mykegonlegs sell down there? Pays for itself in not long at all (I think they were about $180 to buy...)

Does in some ways PoMo but from memory MKOL's cylinders are 6.8kg and around $47 per refill. Supagas are offering 10kg cylinders for $35 per refill. Not saying you're making your money back but you're getting more volume and free delivery to your door.
I hate lugging cylinders back and forth from the HBS. :(

I agree PM, over in WA A/L charge the same annual cylinder rental rate whether its a cumbersome steal heavy sh!t (that they got of BOC cheap when they phased them out) or a nice and light Ali one. You guys in the east getting them for $30 a year were getting a really really good deal as it is normally about the $130 mark, thank god I only have argon from them and not CO as well.

PS the D size cylinder does not look lite it will hold much more than my 6kg CO extinguisher. The slightly bigger cylinder that BOC offers is called a VT

Dunno what the initial cost is lads....I'm heading in to see 'em again this arvo. Being that a 6kg bottle would last around 12 months for a 3 keg setup then I'm sure $30 Swap and bugger off is going to be a great deal. It appears that the offer is only going to initially be available in Elizabeth and Dandenong. If all is successfull with these two establishments then I'm sure SupaGas will release it in every other store. I know it will be an instant hit here in Elizabeth with the amount of home brewers at DSTO and BAE Systems let alone those lot on the RAAF base.

I'll get all the details of it tonight and post all tomorrow. I'm certaily excited though. Makes life far easier and cost effective for me for sure.
