Hey Fellow Brewers

I have seperate mash and lauter vessels.

Can anyone recommend a suitable pump for pumping the mash to the lauter vessel?

No advice for the pump, but just a quick question - why the separate vessels?

Pumps that can handle this sort of stuff aren't cheap.
+1 for the why?
Unless you are making large quantities it is easier to use 1 vessel.
Describe your setup and there are many here who may be able to help you get it working.
Keeping it simple will reward you later.

Cheers

Pump will need to be heat tolerant and rated to food grade - March Pump as per the Sponsors links would be the go.

Edit - cancel that - reread it and moving mash is a different kettle of fish.

The march pump struggles with cleanish wort, let alone the mash. You need a pump that can handle the trash.

There are specialist pumps around; the one you need has an easily removed front cover, usually just a couple of wing nuts.

Similar pumps are used in dairy and wine as must pumps, Google found this in a couple of seconds once I took Breast out of the search (milk pump breast). One of the most common is a Flowmax (Link Pump), bet the price is gona blow the budget but.

I would think on a small scale it would be very difficult to find a mash pump that works properly.

1) You would have to have a thin mash
2) You would need to agitate the mash to keep everything in suspension otherwise you would have no chance of pumping it.. An auger would be more useful in this case.
3) You'd probably need to have a big (2inch +) outlet to get enough suction head
