Retired this week

Hi folks

This week I retired from full time work, the date was decided 10 yrs ago.

I have a pretty good workshop at home and if I pick up enough for 1 or 2 days a week I would be more than happy

I want to spend time with the grand kids, (to make up the time I missed with my kids having to work long hours), do more brewing, fishing, making, and painting fishing lures and gardening. Working my hours and conditions, without the politics and ********.

Also, to start making good home made breads, particularly sour doughs, I have a lot to learn in this department.

Hoping to become more active on the forum, rather than lurking.

Congratulations on retiring, I hope I can do so one day. Best not to spread yourself too thin, just work on brewing or the lures for a while each, don't take on too much at once

Well done on achieving retirement John. Ten years in the planning! I thought I was keen planning mine five years out.

Well done on youre retirement Im about 3 years off which will take me to 66

My target was 62, so I finished on my birthday
Gave the boss 12 months notice
What I was doing is now done by 3 replacements, I knew I was worth more money

Been retired myself now for 17 years. Haven't missed work for a single day.
I always advise people that before retiring they need to work out what activities will replace work for them. Sitting in front of the goggle box all and every day watching Nilflix or Foxlies isn't really an option. Golf or bowls every day might sound great, but is unrealistic. You need a variety of activities and hobbies.

Sounds like you’ve got great times ahead and congratulations on retirement. Bread is great fun especially on the cold winter days, but if it’s your thing, try Saurkraut. The red cabbage is our family favourite especially in a homemade bun and homemade European sausage with a great beer. Cheers
