I wish it worked out, been waiting for the HLT to get to 78'C to sparge...
Somehow between 1st and 2nd batch my HLT temp gauge shat itself. For some reason its reading 64'C at boil temp.

Anywho, sparge in process, heating initial running's to boil. only an hour and a half to go until i can turn this shit off and go back to bed.

Worst brew day ever. I cant believe thew bad luck and shit that's gone bad. Normally they are flawless.

Well I am fully complete, 21L of 1.059 which means an overall efficiency of 73.7%

All washed up, all dried, all packed away. Pitched at 19.5C, will ferment at 18C.

Nice, i'm nearly done.
25 min's away from cubing the last 40l, however there's a few burnt spots on my mash kettle since j had to use it on the 4 ring burner, will need to disassemble it tomorrow and scrub it out... sigh.

Burnt crispy oat rye porter - hopefully it ends up well...

6 hours so far... zzzzz....

I think I just had a nerdgasm with that data acquisition chart.

Good effort today lads, Bribie G about to step up to the plate and take over the evening shift, housework took longer than usual then there was Nascar on One, then a Peter Jackson Hobbit special on Nine and then......

About to sort out the brew cave now and charge up the camera. Anyway bugger that morning brewing, I like to quaff when I brew :)

Shit. I have 21 litres of wort in a cube in my pool but I missed Nascar and a Hobbit special. Well played Bribie G. Well played.

Ok lashes it is, have milled and now waiting for water to heat to strike in urn. Started around 5.30 but brauhaus needed a big cleanup, looked like a brothel whatever one of those is.

I didn't have any Munich left so I'm using up some Carapils and Melanoidin - I'm working through all of my old spec grains and will renew the lot for the comp season.

Weighed out from my sacks and Milled with the Ozito and Marga. As mentioned in another thread I got the Marga crank handle straightened and sawn off to make a "drill bit" so the handle just lives permanently in the Ozito.

Totally NSFW. For those unfamiliar with the term it means do not click unless you are prepared to either see raunchy stuff or be taken to a website that has raunchy stuff - work, wife, parents, kids free zone, your computer, your privacy only.

http://xhamster.com/movies/1726674/foot_and_shoe_fetish.html

Definitely the least sexy thing I've ever watched on xhamster but it was requested.

What's Xhamster? I used to have hamsters when I was a kid in the UK.

Is it possibly a bit like that RedTube which is for Reddit editors maybe and which I find quite entertaining?

Tucked away in the mashtun now for 40 mins at 64 then I'll do another 40 at 72 then mashout before hoisting.

First task, pour yet another tap cider :drinks:

Strike Liquor salted and ready, don't forget the curved roasting rack to keep bag off element during ramps

For those who came in late, you do not need a bag as such - a circle of voile hemmed is perfect and has no weak points. Mine is a wee bit fraying at the hems as I did that myself on the Janome but it's coming up 2 years old and in good nick.

Drape over urn and just push down with the paint stirrer tool and dough into the resulting "well"

Then lid on and lag, first with the kids sleeping bag (no idea where the bubbles came from in the photo) and then with the Clark Rubber stuff

Timer set and off for a late dins.

Amazing what you can turn up on google. Assuming no prior knowledge...

Was a bloody nice day, especially for this time if year in VIC- I drank too much to brew, but this is a good thing as the demand has now created a need for supply.

What I really like about brewing in the evening is that whenever I go out to check on progress the cider tap says "drink me"

I cant bring myself to sacrifice 5 hours of a weekend on staying put at home brewing, thats what weekday evenings are for.

The mash?
I give it an up and down pump with the paint stirrer that's like a big potato masher, at dough in, then seal it up, another pump while I ramp it to 72 and a final pump while I'm raising it to mashout. About ten minutes and five minutes respectively during the ramps.
