Hiya, I was thinking of doing a partial mash using the following.

750g Ale Malt
750g Munich Malt
250 Crystal Malt
250g Chocolate Malt
25g Roast Malt

The blue mountains brewing supplies website recommends this grain bill as a partial mash with Amber extract, but I was thinking of using these grains in a mash with a coopers dark ale kit, using it to replace the dextrose.

How do you think this one would turn out? Any suggestions?

Cheers all

Did you try this I'm thinking of doing something similar.

Well you could but that will probably turn out different to what the recipe was designed to produce. The coopers dark ale kit will already have grains that provide roasty and caramel flavours so you will be double dosing on those flavours which would give quite a dark, full flavoured beer. you never know, it could be sensational! what equipment are you using to mash? if you can mash 2kg of grain can you mash 5kg? If so you could just go all grain.

I'm just working with a 10litre pot , I might just go off a extract recipe just have alot of grains leftover from a zombie dust recipe I did a few months ago. I was thinking maybe I'll try the coopers ol brown dog recipe.
