Hi All,

Im looking into purchasing a smallish (10L) oak barrel and was thinking of using it to ferments some beer in it. Im still using kits to brew (living in an apartment)
Just wondering does anyone know of any particular style of beer that is suited to oak barrel fermenting?

Thanks,
Dave

Lambic, Imperial Stout, Barleywine, Saison, IPA.

Great thanks,

Ive done a couple of stouts and they worked out fine in the plastic fermentor. Do you reakon ill need to add an airlock to the barrel or just fit the wooden bung in place
I figure the gasses will find their own way out.

Keep in mind that's a lot of surface area of oak compared to volume of beer. Ie massive oak hit. It would pay to do a bit of reading on this if u haven't already

Can't help about sourcing them cheaply
