Yeah good points and well taken. This was done for someone who had already done a few kitnkilo brews -- "advanced kit brewing" if you like! She had never rehydrated the yeast and also wanted tips on how to use hops with a kit. It's hard to know what is too complex to include.
If we ever get a newbie section it might be good to have a few different techniques for brewing with kits. I'm sure other people will have good suggestions for this.
(When kit brewing I like to dissolve the kit in the boil as it makes for a more accurate hydrometer reading and seems more sanitary to me.)
