Anyone bought and road tested these phones yet?

I was waiting for the new Note (non exploding version) but that's not due till about Xmas. So I might go ahead and get the new S8 plus minus the stylus - the six inch screen should be ok for my sausage fingers.

I have had my S8 for a few weeks now. It is by far the best phone i have owned. The screen resolution is unbelievable and it just does everything faster and better than anything i have seen. Still getting used to the edge screen though. Even my apple loving wife has even been thinking about jumping the fence for it. I dont think you will be disappointed with an S8+ Bribie. I do kind of regret not going the + but who needs **** that large.

I'm waiting until the marketing gurus and social pressures convince me that the S7 I'm currently very happy with is actually a piece of **** before I upgrade.

Actually, It could use an auxiliary battery pack since when it drops much under 20% charge the Chrome Cast seems to behave oddly. If such a thing exists.

Spose I could always just plug the charger in. But that would mean not sitting in my favorite spot.

Those battery packs are brilliant and not too expensive. Morning routine is to place bacon, eggs, tomato, avo in front of the tablet on the table. Then it announces "low battery" because I forgot to charge it. Feck, where's the battery pack so I can get on to trolling the Guardian.

Actually since posting, I have ordered the S8 plus, aided by a few pints of porter. Should be here tomorrow.

I really need to get a breathalyzer lock on my PC.

I too am interested in the S8 or S8+. Can anyone comment on the quality of the aerial and the battery life? My iPhone is killing me with having to recharge every day, sometimes twice and 4G dropping out inexplicably in the middle of town, let alone out in the burbs.....

Cheers - Snow.

It arrived... !!!!!!

I've had my S8+ on all day since 7 am, used it for a few hours setting up apps and accounts, watching a few Youtubes in 4K to check out the stunning screen, phoned a few people, googled and rang a few businesses, took a few calls.
So it's had more of a workout than my old phone on an average day.

Currently battery is 74%. Good signal all day in Kyogle and Lismore. I'd guess if you are a tradie or heavy user Snow it should last perfectly well. I've also got a battery pack that easily put a full charge into the Galaxy Note 4 so I'll keep that handy for trips etc.

Awesome Bribie! Where did you order yours from? I'm a bit nervous about getting it from Kogan etc, because of the hassles people have with them when things go wrong.

I've got mine on a post paid plan from Telstra as my Note 4 plan had expired (gave my Note to a buddy) so I just keep on paying the ransom every month :p

WRT to charge, when the screen goes back to standby, rather than just being blank, it constantly shows a "ghost" image of time, date and battery charge so you can see how you are going.
Since I did my last post about 3 hours ago I haven't used the phone and it's gone down from 74 to 73% so it's clearly good on standby as well, if you are out and about for the day.

Down to 71% by 10pm, plugged in the rapid charger that comes with the unit, back to 100% in 25 mins.

Impressed.

So after 48 hours of normal use and no charge im down to 13%. Im really enjoying having a useful phone.

Just bumping with a road test report.

It's now Monday 6.40pm.
Phone was last fully charged on Friday evening and has had moderate usage since then, nothing too strenuous but swmbo is in hospital so I've been doing the usual round of the rellies to keep them up to date and a bit of Googling when I go in to visit.

Currently on 27%

Somewhat impressed.

Thanks for the update, my S6 is long overdue to be replaced, the battery barely gets through the day now and my wife's is even worse.

Why stop there?
Take it in the shower, throw it against a wall, drop it in a swimming pool, kick it down the street like a football, drag it behind your car on a rope, place it in a Tuppware container filled with Coke and freeze it overnight.
