After selling our house and my magnificent brewery setup (see hermsbrewery.com) I have got off my arse and with some initial help from Mr.Tyreman and the missus, this is as far as the new brewery has got to as of today. Almost to the point of calling sparky in to run a 30 amp line to it. The outdoor area attached to garage was already there with the house, one of the reasons we bought it whilst we built, but I just had to frame it in and make it dust proof and insulated to make it a worthwhile brewery.

Quite happy with progress so far...

I was quite chuffed with the odd plaque on the old gate I am going to use as the door....hehehe, do a google translate on it.

Good to see you getting back into it. Nice bit of space you have there.

OT but how were those beers I gave you? Good, bad or ugly?

I had one which was pretty darn nice, not the brett, the other one, I seem to have misplaced the brett! it will surface somewhere.

nice work mate, wish I was closer to give you a hand. But if I was closer we would be at AA together.

Brett one was a vicbrew winner and 4th in the nats so hope you find it. I didn't mind it at all - only one or two bottles left now and Brett will probably increase with age. Could be good, could be bad.

Anyway brew up. Got space for the hops in the new place mate? I'm guessing you do.

looks good John, be nice to see it in action to compare to ya old setup.

The first pic at first glance looked like a massive two story building!

looks a good size space,be nice to see the finished results

PS..i did translate the sign B)

Hahaha +1

I'll be down soon enough. Leaving on Wednesday, taking a week to get down there.... then it's on like donkey kong! I'll send you a text or something.

I think that was the one you brought to brew club meeting at nige's place. And yes I remember it was well received by all.

brewery looking good john! Planned your first brew?

More work today, all cement sheeting screwed and glued on. Ran the treated pine beam between house and garage to run power conduit over. Got it to the point where the sparky can come in and lay the initial wiring and then I can start the finish trim on the inside. "Defense d'uriner" door is installed though I will be adding additional thickness to the door so I can insulate it, but that can be part of final trim.

Attached electrical plan for info, dunno why really.

Nice work fj. looking great!

Better be ready to have a shot at the title of BOTY next year, I'm eye'ing that baby for my mantle piece :)

More updates, sparky has just left after laying the initial wiring, I can now finish the internal insulation and paneling.

I love the amount of power points you have in a relatively small space. All rooms should be like that!

And I actually reduced it by another two double outlets, could not see the need for 12 outlets!

Total 10amp outlets = 8, plus one 15amp outlet for the control case.

Thrilled it has come along this fast.

First set of roof sheeting up, roof insulation and side wall insulation.

Couple of things to remember:
  1. Don't work under laserlite in an relatively enclosed space in 35c weather, your body just does not seem to like it
  2. Don't trust Bunnings when they say a sheet of melamine panelling is 2400x1200, pigs arse, more like 2420x1210

Got most the insulation off freecycle.org, bit of a bonus to save the cash on that.
