hey guys,

love my beer, but not just any beer, quality crafted beers.

Been wanting to home brew for years and never got around to it, but finally to the leap and started today.

Got a simple home brew kit, added some extra hops and fermenting on a heat pad. Excited but obviously all new to me....Wanting to join a forum of fellow passionate brew lovers!!!

Read up about ideal temperatures (not on the kit instructions) and see if you really need that heat pad at this time of year.
Otherwise welcome, stick with it and learn from your mistakes so you can enjoy your successes.

+1

Most of us are fermenting in a fridge or freezer at the moment. Don't be discouraged if you aren't amazed by your first brew. Excellent beer is pretty easy to achieve once you get a few basic things in place: ideal temperature, better yeast, addition of hops etc.

Don't give up if your beer is shit. Pay the price of learning. I gave up once, then I learnt, now it's an obsession. Put that ******* heat pad back in the cupboard until winter.

2 words... John Palmer.. And I'm not talking about 5 fingers ;).... Read his book on how to brew. Free and has some awesome basic concepts including advanced.
