Just put down a toucan - I had an basic Coopers Lager sitting around, and Coopers Heritage Lager was on special. So in they go together

I didn't add as much hot water as normal, to try to keep temps down, but they were thouroughly mixed in together, blasted as i filled the fermenter.
I added Saflager from the yeast cake of the brew I just bottled(never done that before)

7 hours later I notice the lighter regular lager on top, and the darker heritage has settled on the bottom.
I've given it a shake up, however is this normal? Or will it work itself out as it brews along?

Post a pic if you can, I'd personally give it a shake but what good will it do if it's only gonna seperate again..... hummmmm...... give it a shake I say see how she goes, if it splits into two layers again might be worth warming it up a little to get some convection going.....

good luck

Aaron

ps. what temp is it at?

Photo wont show up right now - because i shook her up, but it was instantly recogniable.

Temp currently at 16 degree. Was at 14 earlier, hope i didn't over yeast it, though its not bubbling furiously yet
Maybe the Heritage lager is just that much more dense? I think I'll just keep shaking it up as I go, leave it to settle before bottling and see what i get. Both Coopers lagers so can't be too terrible either way.....

Did you simmer up the two cans in a stockpot or did you warm the tins and pour into the fermenter then top up? As I posted on another thread a couple of days ago, you might think that you have blended the goop and water but maybe not. This is a problem that mead makers apparently have in dissolving large amounts of honey into water, and have to stir like buggery for a long time. And honey is about the same consistency of goop.

Let's just hope the 'splitting' carries through to the bottle. Bottle in clear glass for maximum visual impact :)
