I made a starter for the Wyeast 2565 that I'm re-using from a recent batch and it's going nuts.

I'm still fairly new to starter procedure and so far the ones I've done have been quite subdued. Not this one, I even had to put glad wrap over the top of the flask to stop it making a mess.

I normally pour off the liquid and just use the yeast slurry, but I'm thinking maybe I need to get this one into my batch asap.

Any thoughts?

You can either put it into a batch ASAP or turn your stirplate off.

I would think that the stirplate should be turned up, not off. The stirring should reduce the krausen and let the CO2 escape without sticking to the proteins and foaming up.

(I have no direct experience with a starter that has done this, just thinking out loud)
