The down side is that in making ahle for the gas line you reduce the insulation properties of the fridge so it will need to run more often.

Keeping your bottle in the fridge replaces air that spills out when you open the fridge, with a lump of cold metal that helps keep the temperature more consistent in the fridge.

Not sure about a little gas line hole making much difference to the fridge, but good point about the gas bottles thermal mass helping keep a constant temp.

Empty fridge space can and should be consumed by more kegs, keep that bottle out IMO.

I can't fit another keg in, I can fit a 2.6Kg gas bottle as it'll be sitting on the step above the compressor. Other reason to have it out the way is I have a dog and don't want it grabbing at the bottle or any bits and pieces connected to it. Cleaner if I have it all hidden away in the fridge.
