Not too late, however we have to end with 500g orders of each yeast strain, I can be a somewhat flexible with some of what I'd like, which gives a little room, but it also depends on others, so we'll see what happens in a couple of days.

OK. I'm happy to take less of each if we don't have enough to go round (I'll end up slanting it out anyway) and am equally happy to take up to 100g of each to make up the order.

Cheers
Dave

Just found this the other day, hopefully not too late.

Rob.

Well it's been two weeks, which I think is enough time, and here is the running total:

ICV D47: 600g
71B-112: 600g
RC212: 100g
DV10: 200g
ICV K1: 300g
EC-1118: 100g

Since orders must be in a multiple of 500g, we have too much D47 and 71B, and not enough of anything else.
There is not enough interest in 212 and 1118 can be purchased in 5g packs (at most LHBS) so I think we can rule those out.
Both DV10 and KV1 are high alcohol tolerance champagne type yeasts it may be that we can agree on one or the other.

With the above information in mind some people may like to edit their order or pull out completly, so I'm going to send everyone a message then wait till Friday before confirming the order (and going to Winequip to get 500g packs of whatever there is sufficent interest in.)

Please post below to confirm your order as it is, edit what you'd like or even remove your order.
Please confirm or make these changes before Friday 5th March, as I'll try to buy the yeast then.

As I mentioned before I am willing to cut back or take more as needed.

As a suggestion, there seem to be 9 people who want D47 (and a similar number who want the 112). If we get 1 500g pack of each that's around 55g for everyone. Given that a 20l batch uses 1 5g packet, that's 11 brews.

I'm not sure what the keeping qualities of this are once the seal has been broken but 100g is 20 batches which is a lot of mead...Unless you are setting up in commercial production will you use that much yeast before it degrades? Especially if you are after multiple strains.

Or if we are all going to go crazy we can each take 110g. For slightly less that $8 its hardly worth quibbling about. Particularly as even at bulk rates to use that much yeast will cost around $1000 in honey (5kg/batch * $9/kg *22 brews)

I will be transfering these all to slants once I get them anyway so we will always have them available. I'm happy to send slants to people.

Cheers
Dave

Or 55g of each based on Airgead's suggestion above. I'm going to be slanting mine too.

(Slightly off topic -- for beer yeasts I use LDME for a starter and mixed with agar for the slants. Would the same be used for wine yeasts? Or seeing as they'll be used for mead, maybe a honey & nutrient mix instead?)

happy to have my order aleterdd to fit the requirements.
im not fussed about what type of sparking yeast i get. its mainly the mead yeast im interested in.

I am with CM2 and Airgead on the D47. and $8 is not worth worrying about.
But, still would not mind the DV10 or K1.

I am happy to go with the group (or Wolfy's) consensus...

:icon_offtopic:
I was just going to use a malt agar. Mead yeast (actually wine yeast) will grow quite happily on it. Probably better than on honey as that is nutrient poor. Although if you add nutrient to the agar (which I do) then either should work. As these are wine yeasts, a grape juice agar would probably be most natural for them. I'll stick with malt though.

As long as we have a consensus before Friday it's all good. :)
Was just trying to make sure that there are still enough people interested (which it seems there are) if we're only getting 3 yeast strains.

I'm happy to get 500g or 1kg of D47 and 71B ... I just don't want to be left 400g of the stuff!!
I was going to slant it (and keep some dry for years) so even 55g is fine with me, but if everyone would rather 110g can do that instead.

We need to decide on either DV10 or K1.
(hopefully this will work) I've uploaded the PDF supplied by Lallemand Aust or there are links to websites in the first post.

I'm on minimum orders for D47 and 71B, but if it helps for me to go up to 100g, I'm willing to.

im happy with my order but can go up to 100g if required.
