Some of you guys may get a laugh out of this. It is funny now, but at the time I was not happy!

I was brewing an APA. 1 week primary, 1 week secondary where I added more hops and some finings... and as it turns out, a moth!

It was a busy month for me and my only spare time was in the wee hours of the morning. So after a few beers I decided to rack and dry hop the Ale at about 1am. The fermentation fridge is in my garage, so after my religious cleaning and sanitize/sterilizations I started racking. I checked the gravity and had a taste, being 1.014 and tasting nice, all was going to plan. I did notice that there were a few moths around the light in the shed but it didn't bother me at the time. All seemed to go well and I put the racked brew into the fridge again and left it for a week.

However when I went to keg it I checked the gravity, 1.005 and tasted pretty undrinkable! So I took the lid off and noticed a moth floating on top. No idea how it got there, but I now have a habbit of attacking all moths in my path!

Hard luck Jazza - hopefully it'll be ok. Last year I had a spider in mine....fell from the vent in the laundry just as I was adding yeast. You'll just have to think of a cool name for it now : F$*&kin flappin Bogong APA
Cheers
Steve

Jazza what was the moth doing in your beer ?

Was it Breastroke ?

If it was front crawl there is a high probability that it was the moth wings splashed so much it that oxidised the beer .

Did you watch the film 'Silence of the Lamb's that would be a bit spooky drinking a beer and getting the moth stuck in your throat .

what did you call it 'Bogon Beer'

Pumpy :)

Ha Ha Ha Ha...

No, the moth was dead. But what a way to go... drowning in beer! I think I did get a hint of oxidisation though... right before it sprayed out of my mouth. (Joke)

I called the beer "lawn feed" and gave the fermenter a bleach bath... It really was un drinkable.

I found a bee at the bottom of my secondary once and after losing around 120litres of beer to subsequent
infections, its nothing to laugh at. I swear this bee had some sort of super wild yeast that wouldnt die. I hope your moth infection doesnt turn out the same.
