I would like to use this false bottom in a mlt. How thick is the false bottom? How much wet grain weight can it handle?

The thickness of this false bottom was increased to a fraction under 1mm (going from memory). As a result it's still not what we would consider suitable for putting grain directly on. This particular false bottom has been designed to filter hops and the incidental piece of grain that comes out of the malt pipe. The idea of this is to protect your pump from blocking. I would say it does an excellent job of this too and it's one of the reasons why people like the BrewZilla units.

Firstly the weight of the grain can be considerable and also if you get a stuck sparge the suction generated by the pump significantly increase the pressure on the false bottom especially of this large diameter. Although the suction is not really high on the pump, this suction over such a large diameter becomes a really significant force on the false bottom, so a much thicker screen would be better for this application.

Yes the diameter is the same so they are compatible.

Yes if you purchased from some time ago then the castor wheels are not included. With that said now all the G40 units come with free castor wheels and I believe this has been the case for more than 4 months now.

If you have one of the older models the other thing is the base may not even have the female threads for the castor wheels to be fitted. So if that is the case you can use self taping screws into the underside of the G40.

So i would use these screws:

Then with the castor wheels I think these ones are really good quality so I would recommend these:

However if you want a cheaper set of castors we have these ones which are actually the kegerator replacement castor wheels. These ones normally come free with the Series 4 Kegerator. So if you are on a tight budget you can get these but they simply are not as good as the 100mm heavy duty ones.

The false bottom will be going into a 360mm diameter SS pot, I was going to trim the FB to size.

I like the idea of having a whole base flat FB and eliminate the need for fittings/hose to connect to valve like a domed FB has.

This mlt will be used in a 3v setup, so I dont want to clean a malt pipe as well.

Does anyone have recommendations for fermenting fridges for the Fermzilla 27L?

It's too big for my current bar fridge. It even looks too tall for my keg fridge. I can't fit in a full size kitchen fridge, so I'd need something in between a bar fridge and a kitchen fridge. Any ideas?

We have been working on a new fermenting fridge with heating and cooling which has been designed to suit the 27L and the 55L FermZilla. The only issue is this will not be available until the end of the year.
