Gidday Guys, wondering if anybody knows whos selling the keg king kegerators other than keg king themselves. Cant seem to find these on ebay today. Somebody was selling them im sure.
They are alot more expensive off the keg king site im sure....
Thanks. Darren.

Yeah thanks mate, but too expensive from the shop. Im sure somebody else was selling them cheaper online

I have a friend that works for Pinnacle here in Ballarat, and they warned me against buying from Pinnacle. They're dodgy as **** to deal with. They also said something about the circuitry being really cheap crappy chinese junk. Lots of problems with them.

Edit: Removed reference to friend so they can't be implicated.

My bro in law ordered one from Pinnacle, and had no problem at all. Could have been lucky though.
Is the circuitry bad for the Pinnacle version or that type in general? they all seem to look the same.

I bought one from Pinnacle. No problems.

Paid cash and picked it up. $330.

Keg King are, afaik, the sole importer of these fridges into Australia.

If you're finding one online that is substantially cheaper than retail, chances are it's a scam designed to part a brother with his money.

Far easier to claim warranty if you buy from a reputable retailer....

I found mine on gumtree, Its a Mark 3, Been used once (aparently) Has a 50 Litre keg and coupler, a 6kg gas bottle (full) with 2 taps. Looks brand new, I paid $275 for everything, Im cheering

Looking at changing to 19 litre kegs, so will be selling the 50 litre keg and coupler

Have a look on gumtree, and there are a load on Ebay

The Ebay ones are normally an attractive package with fonts etc.
However these font sets are crap.

Ross at Craftbrewer gets the packages in and, I hope he doesn't mind me revealing this but he has posted on this in the past - he sells the fridge, and the font set in its cardboard box goes onto a pallet with all the other font sets and gets sold back to the Chinese or melted down for car parts or whatever.

I've bought 2 from CB for the going price at the time, currently $499, and more than happy, both still as new and give wonderful service.

Like they say the pain of handing over money for a wise purchase is soon forgotten, but the pain of money wasted on a poor purchase lasts for a long time. Or something like that. :p

As hoppers says if you can get a recent second hand one, they are so reliable and unbreakable that's also a very good way to go.

They're not unbreakable, resilient, yes, but not unbreakable.

Mine recently shorted out the temp control circuitry, causing it to keep the cooling cycle going. I ended up freezing 2 kegs and half a dozen bottles solid. The kegs recovered fine.

This is most likely caused by condensation from the chamber getting into the control board. Letting it dry out naturally over a week resumed normal function, but I am considering installing an STC-1000 as a backup controller.

I have one that came from the first batch that they imported. It has an LG compressor in it, goes hard. Money well spent.

Be weary of the cheaper kk ones on eBay. I know a few blokes that bought them and turned out to have plastic perlic knock off taps. Leaked like the titanic.

Buy right buy once.

I've brought from this guy (homebrewingisfun1) on eBay many times and have never had any issues.

Two mates brought the keg king series three from him without issue. As others have said, the fridge is great, but the taps are rubbish. Chuck the plastic taps and replace them with something decent, such as the perlick, which can be bought for about $80 from cheekypeakbrewery.

Steer clear of pinnacle, my evaporator leaked and it took me 2 weeks worth of phone calls before some arrogant guy informs me they only warrant parts, not labour. The labour and gas to install a new evaporator was more than the original purchase. After another couple of weeks heckling and dropping the fair trading bomb they finally refunded me.
