Ran out of keg beer last week :( so I've been drinking the bottles that I have been storing the excess brew in. One thing I have noticed is the lack of head retention in the bottled beer. Same glass, same brew, lots of bubble but next to know head retention. The kegged beer holds head all the way to the bottom of the glass. I know that part of head retention is due to protiens in the brew. Does force carbonation give better head retention?

maybe your bottles were not completly clean when you bottled. residue to cleaning agents can kill the head.just my 2c

Yeh, considered that but it was a number of different brews bottled over a 6 month period. Bottles were squeaky clean.
