Hey Guys i'm another one on the squires golden ale ban-wagon just wondering if anyone's done or has any ideas for a kit-version of this?
I'm also looking for amarillo hops if anyone knows where i can get some my local HB shop dont have any...

I don't know about a kit recipe but if you do a search you should be able to find something. Just remember you can replace pale malts with pale extract so it can be reasonably simple to convert a recipe, I think BeerSmith will do it for you.

Amarillo hops may be hard to come by. They have been in short supply since they became very popular last year. Call around to a few shops and you may track some down. Try using cascade or even simcoe as a replacement. I am led to believe new hop crops from the USA will be available in the not too distant future. However, that is just something I have heard and you are better off checking with Hopco or similar.

Andre', I have some Amarillo's you can have. Only about 50 or so grams spare but you are welcome to them. Not sure how well they will travel in this weather though.
cheers
Darren

I have half a kilo of Amarillo in the freezer.

I picked them up in Canberra a couple of weeks ago.

If you need I can spare a few pellets.

Where in Canberra? I might have to make a rushed trip up there to submit my British Passport application in person - would be good to stock up on the only things Canberra's good for - fireworks, porn and amarillo hops :p

Hey Junior.
Where in northwest sydney are you exactly?

You said you wanted a kits recipe. Could try substituting pale grain here for pale malt, and a mini mash of the other grains. Doesnt even need to be a mash so much. Just up the pale malt a bit and use the other grains to extract flavour and colour. This was a pretty good beer if i remember rightly

Hi Junior

Off the topic, but,

I don't recognise your sign on, but given your location at Bella Vista you might want to think about joining the North West Brewers. We are a group based in the Hills and can be reached at the following yahoo group:

http://au.groups.yahoo.com/group/nwsbrewers

We are a group for all types of brewers not just the AGers.

Look forward to welcoming you to the fold, unless of course you are already a member. In which case you already know what a fantastic bunch we are.

Cheers
T
