My beer filter came today cant wait to test it out, clear beer for me. :D

I can see the advantage in filtering for certain styles where clarity is warranted, but I wouldn't want to filter everything. Sometimes cloudieness is appropriate.

Have fun with the filter. I did, but not for long, and I soon realised that kegging with some gelatine, and leaving it for 3 or 4 days, was much more productive than farting about with filtering.

+1 for gelatin and polyclar. I gave up filtering about 3 months into kegging, just that much more work and cleanup.

YOu know .. I don't want to put a dampner on sav's celebrations but .. my philosophy in my tiny beer making career has been to seek feedback and adjust .. and no one has ever complained my beer is too cloudy .. touch wood. Maybe its a south australian thing :)
But then again .. if I brewed for mainly for myself and I didn't like cloudy beer then I would get a filter, I guess.
But I like the idea of HWMBO getting his B groups from the yeast. :)

Now I feel churlish!

Filter! Yay! That's great! :)

New to brewing, curently I prefer to filter my beer using liver and kidneys, at this stage havn't thought of an external model? :D

No doubt, one day i will joing your ranks and filter as well, prob if kegs come into play...

Have fun with your, clear future!

Good for you Sav, hope you will be happy with the results. And I hope you haven't been put off by all the negative posts.

It amazes me how many people like to knock things on this site, I am pretty sure Sav was looking for a few helpful points (see afromaiko) and not a heap of negative comments that aren't helpful at all.

Hope to see a couple of pics of your clear beer Sav.

Thanks andrew I was thinking to myself why do I bother posting,I used Gelitine 5 years ago Time for something new now I dont have to wait 3 4 days.

I use Polyclar and I filter all my brews,I love crystal clear bright beers.
It's not for everyone I know, but the small amount of time lost is more than worth the gain to me.

yeah filters are great speeds up the clearing process , clear beer to drink in a couple of days instead of waiting around for weeks for it to clear
