Hi All,
I'm Michele. Been around for a while. Have just started brewing again. I love the thought of making an outstanding beer and having people share it with me.

The amount of info on this site is astounding and freely given, so thank you very much for that I really appreciate it. :D

I love Commercially, Hoeggarden and Corona (not together), so they the two styles I'm going to do my best to imitate.

Cheers,

Michele

Hi, been on AHB for a couple of months and thought I should finally post something in this thread. Did a fair bit of kit a kilo and few years ago and stopped for a while.

Rediscovered brewing late last year and have quickly progressed from kit and kilo to extract to partial mash. Trying to get the last of my AG gear sorted at the moment. Still bottle my beer, not sure if I'll get CFO approval for a keg setup (then again she drinks my beer as well)

I live in the Shire in Sydney and work in the CDB

Cheers

I am new here and thought I should introduce myself, I'm Gavin and I live on the western downs QLD.

I was doing K&K a few years ago because it was cheap. I stopped for a while while I built my house and we started the new family. I have just got back into brewing in the past few months after going to a party and a friend gave me a home brew Just a K&K using the dreaded white stuff, I thought thats not to bad and started again from there. Since then the fermenter hasn't stopped and I have just started to move from straight K&K dextrose into using Some dry malt. I am getting more interested into malt extract brewing, due to this site, might just try that once I get a few brews ahead.

Home brewing has now gone past doing it because it is cheap but because it is far better than the commercial stuff on offer.

Cheers all.

Hello All,

I like the good bloke before me a new to brewing but an old hand a sampling the good stuff!
What recommendation would you have as an easy starter. My first attempt was supposed to be "Guiness -like" but had more in common with vegemite.

What would you recommend as a good stout kit available in Perth? Also does anyone know if you can get hold of Affligem beers in WA particularly the Duble and Trippel?

Good to meet you all! L'chayim!, Slainte and Salute to you all, Noel of Perth

PS I can get hold of some metal kegs suitable for brewing for $70 but there are only 5 after me and my dad. let me know if you are interested.

My dad was doing HB in the late 60's early 70,s in Qld when it was illeagal, its his fault!

Hi all. ive been HB for the last 20 years with varing degrees of sucess. My most consistant (best) results were in Brisvegas fermenting Beeermakers XXX and then bottling. I later moved to Townsville and started kegging with very poor results. On a coupple of occasions i produced great beers, but couldn't reproduce them.

I want to get back into HB and fix what ever I was doing wrong.

Mick

Hey guys,
My name's Brett, at Uni at the moment. Just bought myself a brew kit to give this hobby a try. so far its all ive been talking about to friends the past week. lookin' good! heh

Hey All,

Been hanging around the forums for a while now, about time I intro myself. Started off doing K&K at Uni, they were crap. After a few batches gave up. Started brewing again 18 months ago, few K&K, then after getting on this forum quickly changed to Partial for a few brews, found some 5oL kegs and plummeted into allgrain. Never looking back. Each brew continues to amaze what quality can be achieved. I'm now a podcast addict, listening to every brewing podcast on my ipod as I drive around Sydney. Lately I've been rolling with the ESB crew in Sydney. Great group of guys. Aso had some success in my first competition last month.

So as the Pope says,

Brew Strong.

Paul Steele,

Work in a bottle shop, and as a freelance DJ in clubs, pubs and various community events.

Started brewing seriously at the start of this year (after dabling in it a few times) I now have 3 fermenters going pretty much all the time, fermenting my Partial mash Pale ales.

getting my AG set-up designed at the moment, so it won't be long before I'm brewing up a big storm.

I try and brew, or do something brew-related (like kegging, bottling, brewing) every day or every second day, but its hard with only three fermenters. (time to expand, i think)

glad to be here, looks like a good little forum.

Hi
I`m Matt, just started brewing last week as a remedy to keep me from trading on the ASX and losing thousands, ready to bottle now and next brew will try to source a keg so I can get into it quicker.

Work as a firey, have wife and 4 kids so need a beeer. I have some friends into brewing who I can probe for info but it seems as there is an endless supply of help available here so thanks to all who post and I`m sure I will have many questions needing answers so thanks in advance too.

I have tried to find a place in the settings area to add an avatar but cannot locate any such button?
One question enough to begin with I think.

IMported, click on my controls, and its down the left hand side.

Welcome to AHB. Have a look at this thread - Link

Great way to meet up with a bunch of fellow brewers in Adelaide and a great chance to pick the brains of other AG brewers. It a relaxed day of beer and bbqed animals great and small. Will also be a yeast swap on the day with a few bio experienced people showing us how slants are done.

Cheers

Probably should have introduced myself a while ago before bugging everyone with the niggling q's that go through my head wile i'm dozing off everynight.

Hi all, i'm gibbo.

I'm a Pharma/drug sales rep from the sutherland shire.

Been brewing for about 3 years now i think, my missus bought me a kit for my birthday, bigest mistake she ever made.
I'm currently AG brewing in a converted esky mash tun and like many others am trying to perfect the APA (nearly there). Also am currently putting together a HERMS.

When i'm not doing anything beer related, i'm practicing with my band www.myspace.com/easycopunx or i'm off on a spearfishing adventure or searching for lobster.

That just about sums me up.

Cheers!

Hey, I'm Mitch, I live in Kalgoorlie WA working on the mines. I've got 3 brews currently conditioning, and 3 in the fermenter as I type. I cracked open my first brew I put down after conditioning it for six weeks last week, and gotta say I love it!

haha, its rough mate, let me tell you, the anxiety caused by choosing between, kingfish cuttlets or lobster and what beer to crack.

I normally choose all of them :icon_drool2:

Hi All,
After finishing a double degree in Finance & I.T. I decided to travel the world.
Got busted for an internet scam in Spain, fled to The Netherlands where I became involved in drug trafficking.
My trafficking aquaintances in Germany got me into making some European style porn. This was massive as the Euro was just in and the Czech's wanted more & more. The money skimmed from the internet scam was invested in shelf companies on the stock market, which made massive profits in such a short time period. I sold all shares in one hit and cashed up. This attracted the interest of Interpol. Again fled, this time to Sth America, where I got caught up in the counterfeiting of $US. This lasted a while in Brazil until the illegal brothal I partly financed tried to bribe gov officials with the fakes. Had to flee Brazil and ended up with a fake NZ passport, re-entered Aus via Bali.
Now I brew beer.

Pretty typical finance graduate I guess, mckenry. You should fit right in with the IT guys here as well. ;)

Dave here been brewing for about 5 years on and off. This hobby has now changed into a lifestyle for me. Recently have landed myself a job in a brewery which starts in a month. Looking forward to the experience and cant wait to learn more about the industry and process.

Howdy All,

My name is Shimple. Just joned the AHB Community. Been brewing kits for about 6 years. I progressed from bottles to kegs approx 2 years ago. Then 4 weeks ago i tried my first partial grain brew. I will never brew another kit again. I am amazed at the flavour derived from the grain.

Looking forward to as much advice as possible, as i venture into becoming serious about AG brewing.

This fills me with hope as I just recieved some grain in the mail today so I can attempt my first partial this weekend :icon_cheers:

:) Interesting crew.

Just started brewing. I gave a mead a bash about a decade back (and it took nearly the full 10 years to taste decent), but I don't think that really counts. I've done a couple of kits (the one that came with my Coopers Kit and a Toohey's Dark), and that's about it.

I want to move into partials, and do as much as I can do with basic equipment before moving up. Though that probably won't be for a year or so.

I'm not an international fugitive. I've only been to Japan and Malaysia. Loved both places. The food was great, though I must admit I didn't even know about Japan's craft breweries. I'm a country girl who's just moved down to the city to live. There are good and bad things about the city. I miss my good mates, but have managed to make a few new ones. I spend way too much money socialising here - I hope homebrewing will help with that :). At least it will provide cheap brews for parties. :)

Hi all,
I've been on the site for a while now but I must admit, I read more than I write. I rarely get down the homepage past the Brewshed so I only saw this thread for the first time today.

I'm a technology Studies teacher from Brisbane with a wife, an 18 month old son and a mortgage so I'm still doing kits and bits at the moment due to restraints on time and money. Thankfully, this site has been a source of sanity when brewing withdrawl hits me.

I've had my first few extract and partial brews pre-planned for a while now but the kits and bits are keeping my stocks up until I get a bit more gear.

Cheers to anyone who has helped me with questions so far.

Jono.

G'day all,

I've been reading this site for quite a while now but never really got around to posting much. I took over the laundry for my brewery about 18 months ago now. Mostly kits + bits and a lately couple of all extract brews, but did my first AG on the weekend. Can't wait to see how it turns out!

Cheers,
Dan.
