Does anyone know how to install a 1/2" NPT stem thermometer on a keep kool cooler? The problem I am faced with is that the post is not long enough to get throuch the wall of the cooler. I am faced with two options.

a. drill small hole in cooler just for stem and put aquarium silicone to block leaks,

b. purchase the zymico therminology unit

Any other ideas?

or buy a 1/2" BSP socket - they come in 15cm or 30cm length.

Go thermometer, SS washer, Fibre Washer.
Lock this is with the socket.

Now comes the hard part. You will need to ensure taht the socket sits approx 5mm under the inside wall of the keepcold.
u will need a 1/2"BSP Male ext. These are tapered thread.
So hand tighten one to see where it comes to.
Becuause it the ext screws all the way in then you can use the ext becaue it has a hex in the middle to tighten.
If it does the on the inside you go hex nipple, ss washer, fibre washer and can use a food grade rubber washer.
Tighten the nipple this will put presure on the wall - it will collapse the 5mm until it is all locked and should not leak.

If the nipple does not tighten all the way - then u need to shorten the socket so that the hex is 5mm below the wall surface and then u will need a lock nut as well.

Hope this makes sense.
